Custom Sort


Sometimes sorting data alphabetically doesn't make sense. For example, if you have a list of data that you want to sort by day of the week, the standard alphabetical sorting doesn't help at all:

You can create a custom sort that does not follow alphabetical orders. To do so, click on the Data tab, and then click Sort.


A new box will appear. In the Order section, click on Custom List.

Here you can select one of the pre-populated custom lists, like days of the weeks or months. This allows your data to be sorted according to the first item in the List Entries section, followed by the second, etc.

You can even create your own custom list based on your preferences. In the YouTube video link above, we created a custom list to show regions in this order: West, Mountain, Central, East. To do so, we clicked on Add and then typed the specific order that we wanted in our list.
